XOLOITZCUINTLES INTERACT WITH FANS
Club Tijuana takes part in player autograph session in San Diego
SAN DIEGO –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente once again made its way north of the border to be with its fans Tuesday Feb. 18.
The Xoloitzcuintles held a player autograph session at the new Little Caesars Pizza location located in the Barrio Logan community in San Diego.
Club Tijuana fans from both sides of the border came to meet Herculez Gomez, Paul Arriola and Joe Corona during the autograph session that featured the Xoloitzcuintles players signing jerseys, T-shirts, hats, soccer balls and even a dog wearing a vest. They posed for pictures with the fans and mingled with its followers during the event.
The team official mascot “Xolo Mayor” was also there to urge on those in attendance to cheer on the Xoloitzcuintles. The mascot also posed for photos and signed autographs.
Corona talked about what it means to be able to part of an autograph signing in the city where he spent a good part of his young life.
“It is a very special feeling to come here and interact with the people of San Diego that supports us in each game,” said the Sweetwater High grad. “It is an honor for all of us to come here. I feel a special love for this place since I grew up in this region and now I get to share this moment with our fans on this side of the border.”
Bob Loomis of the Little Caesars corporate office in Detroit, Mich. talked about the event and what it means for both organizations.
“It is a great opportunity to build good will with the community,” said Loomis who was in town for the event. “We want to let them know we are here and let them know who you, the Xolos are. We hope that all of the team’s fans can come here and enjoy some Little Caesars pizza.”
The Little Caesars Pizza store has been open for two months in a new shopping center in the community located just south of downtown San Diego.
Club Tijuana reaffirmed its commitment to its fans in San Diego with this event and hopes to continue serving its followers from both sides of the border with such events.
The Xoloitzcuintles are preparing to host Jaguares de Chiapas in a Week 8 match of the LIGA Bancomer MX-2014 Clausura Friday Feb. 21 at Estadio Caliente. Tickets on sale at the stadium box office and through ticketmaster.com.mx.
