Xoloitzcuintles striker talks about importance of taking a lead in the first leg of 2013 Copa Bridgestone Libertadores quarterfinals vs. Atletico Mineiro

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente maintains a strong and steady preparation process as it looks towards its first leg quarterfinals match up of the 2013 Copa Libertadores against Atletico Mineiro of Brazil Thursday May 23 at Estadio Caliente (5:30 p.m. Pacific kickoff).


 


Coach Antonio Mohamed’s squad went through some intersquad scrimmages during training Tuesday May 21 as part of the scheme against Atletico Mineiro as the club looks for a slot in the semifinals of the South American tournament.


 


Cristian Pellerano and Alfredo Moreno talked about the importance of taking the lead in the first game of the home-and-home series.


 


“It will be a tough rival but we will be focused at home and we will be strong the same way we have been throughout the tournament,” Pellerano said. “We will try to keep them from scoring and try to get a good result.”


 


Meanwhile, Moreno talked about the good vibes the team is experiencing and its intensions on the field against Atletico Minerio.


 


“We have plenty of confidence and we are at 100-percent to play this game in the quarterfinals,” Moreno said. “We want to win this game. We dream big and we need to win that way. We will try to score and make a difference.”


 


Moreno thanked the Club Tijuana fans for their support throughout the tournament and the team’s existence. He invited them to be a factor during the match against Atletico Mineiro.


 


“They have always demonstrated that they are there for us,” Moreno said. “Our fans have always filled the stands and we know we will have their full support in this very important game.”


 


The Xoloitzcuintles close preparations before the quarterfinals with a Wednesday practice at Estadio Caliente.
