Club Tijuana Under-20 team looks for second straight win; visits Pumas UNAM in Week 5 match

TIJUANA -Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente’s Under-20 team will look for its second consecutive win when it travels to Mexico City to visit Pumas UNAM in Week 5 match of the Under-20 LIGA Bancomer MX- 2014 Clausura tournament.

The Xoloitzcuintles (2-1-1) are off to a quick start in the youth national tournament as coach Diego Torres’ team sits in sixth place in the standings with seven of 12 points possible points to date.

Alejandro Guido has been a key player in the Xoloitzcuintles’ last few games. He has stood out on the attack as he has played as a forward the last two matches. Guido, typically an attacking midfielder, has scored in Club Tijuana’s last two matches and has had a hand in other team scoring plays. The Xoloitzcuintles hope to continue its style of play against a Pumas team that comes into the match with 10 points, tied with Club Leon a top of the standings.

The Xoloitzcuintles U-20 team beat Monarcas Morelia last week with a last minute goal via a penalty kick by Edgar Villegas for the 2-1 win. The Under-20 team kicks off against Pumas Sunday Feb. 2 at 7 a.m. Pacific while the senior team plays at Estadio Universitario at 10 a.m.
