Club Tijuana Under-20 beats Rayados Monterrey 2-0


TIJUANA -Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente’s Under-20 team added another victory to the young LIGA Bancomer-MX-2014 Clausura season with a 2-0 shutout win against visiting Rayados de Monterrey Under-20 team 2-0 Friday at Estadio Caliente.


The Week 6 win puts the Xoloitzcuintles a top the competition standings.


The Xoloitzcuintles (3-1-2, 11 points), remain unbeaten at home and currently tied Pumas UNAM as leaders in the standings.


Midfielder Edgar Villegas scored the first goal for Club Tijuana, coached by Frankie Oviedo, in the 12th minute when he sent a free kick towards into the net. In the second half, the Xoloitzcuintles controlled possession in the second half as much as it did in the first, ultimately scoring the second goal of the night.  Alberto Garcia took advantage of an assist inside the penalty area scoring in the 49th minute.


Club Tijuana’s defense kept Monterrey’s attack at bay as it has shown signs of considerable improvement since the start of the season. It has not allowed a goal in the past two games.


The Xoloitzcuntles travel to Torreon where they will visit Santos Laguna in a Week 7 match.
