XOLOITZCUINTLES FOCUSED ON SEMIFINAL SECOND LEG

Club Tijuana (1-0) visits Cruz Azul for a ticket to CONCACAF Champions League final

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente prepares for the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals in which it visits Cruz Azul FC for a slot in the final that gives the winner a slot in the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco. 


The Xoloitzcuintles took a 1-0 aggregate lead with a win at Estadio Caliente last week in the first leg. Coach Cesar Farias’ team continued with training sessions Monday April 7 in Tijuana ahead of the second leg match at Estadio Azul in Mexico City Wednesday April 9 (5 p.m. Pacific).


Javier Guemez spoke during a media news conference prior to Monday’s practice.


“It is a very important game and we are preparing hard so that we can advance in the tournament,” Guemez said. “It is a great opportunity for us to keep writing our history. It Is a game we want to win and right now it is the most important game but we know we have two competitions. We want to advance in both of them.”


The Xoloitzcuintles will travel to Mexico City Tuesday April 8 to close out preparations to the second leg of the semifinal.
