Moreno returns to Tijuana for 2014 Apertura tournament


TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente will have forward Alfredo Moreno on its roster for the 2014 Apertura Tournament. The Argentine-Mexican was part of Club Tijuana when it clinched the 2012 Apertura title. He arrived to Tijuana the first time at the start of that tournament and played here through the 2013 Clausura and through the 2013 Copa Libertadores. The Xoloitzcuintles reached the quarterfinals against Atletico Mineiro in that tournament.


Moreno is the foreign player with the most goals in the history of the Mexican First Division. He came to Mexican soccer in 2000 when he joined Necaxa and became known as an avid goal scorer in Mexico with a great vision for the field of play, heading ability, ball control and ability to recover balls.


Moreno, who came out of Estudiantes de Santiago, also has international experience at the club level. He’s won the Copa Libertadores with Boca Juniors twice. He was 22 when he helped the Argentine club win the prestigious international tournament. Boca Juniors won it again in 2003 with Moreno playing as a standout.


Moreno has also played with Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz and has other experience playing in Mexico with Club America, Atlas de Guadalajara and Puebla FC.
