CLUB TIJUANA'S UNDER-17 SQUAD STARTS SEASON WITH A WIN

Xoloitzcuintles 2-1 Puebla FC U-17 (FINAL) LIGA Bancomer 2014 Apertura; Week 1

Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente’s Under 17 squad opened its season with a new coach and 2-1 win over visiting Puebla in Week 1 of the LIGA Bancomer Apertura 2014 youth championship.

New head coach Marco Antonio Marroquin and his offensive tactics were too much for Puebla's defense to contain.

Club Tijuana forward Cesar Crespo opened the score in the 10th minute, receiving a delicately weighted through ball from Brandon Vasquez in the 18 yard box and rifling a shot into the roof of the net.

Puebla answered back to tie the game four minutes later with a mirror image of the opening goal. David Rodriguez took a weighted pass that split the Xoloitzcuintles defense and put his shot just inside the far goalpost.

The Xoloitzcuintles' offense wasted no time retaking the lead seven minutes into the second half. Ernesto Espinoza's pass found Ruben Gonzalez just inside the penalty box converting with a calm, well placed finished for the game-winning goal. The Xoloitzcuintles won the penlaty kick shootout 4-1 to win the extra point in the league standings.

Club Tijuana will visit Club America next Saturday in a Week 2 match.
