FIRST HOME MATCH UNDER GUZMAN

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente will play its first home match under coach Daniel Guzman Friday Sept. 19 in a Week 9 match of the LIGA Bancomer MX-2014 at Estadio Caliente (7:30 p.m. Pacific).

After a long trip Wednesday, the Xoloitzcuintles returned to practice at Estadio Caliente with a full team to prepare for Santos. Guzman spoke with members of the media after the practice.

“I am looking forward to making my debut in Tijuana,” Guzman said. “We want to be aggressive, be risky with four midfielders who can recover balls and go forward with them. I look for the team to surprise, be vertical, fast, and precise with the ball. I respect Santos very much because it is a serious team, a formal team with good players and has a philosophy that I know well.”

The Xoloitzcuintles went through its last practice at Estadio Caliente before its match Friday against “Guerreros de Torreon.”

Club Tijuana and Santos have played in six official First Division matches against each other. The Xoloitzcuintles have a 1-2-3 against Santos. That win against Santos is a memorable one since it is Club Tijuana’s first win in the Mexican First Division. Fernando Arce, Jose Sand and Dayro Moreno scored in that game on Aug. 6, 2011 at Territorio Santos Modelo.
