The Xoloitzcuintles hold intersquad scrimmages against Under-17 and U-20s

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente continued its preparations Saturday morning heading into its 2014 Apertura match against Gallos Blancos de Queretaro.


The Xoloitzcuintles took advantage of a rest period this weekend and played a couple of intersquad scrimmages against the Under-17 and Under-20 teams at Estadio Caliente.


Coach Daniel Guzman’s team played a 45-minute match against the Under-20 team coached by Raul Chabrand. The senior team won the intense match 2-1. Alfredo Moreno opened up the scoring with a goal from outside the box. The young Xoloitzcuintles tied the match 1-1 via a penalty kick converted by Victor Ramirez but it was Moreno who sent his second of the day for the senior team.


The Xoloitzcuintles then faced the Under-17 team coached by Marco Marroquin for the second half. The younger Xoloitzcuintles were a tough opponent from the start of the match but Cristian Pellerano’s creativity took over, sending in the first goal of the match. Juan Arango scored the second goal with a bending free kick into the net.


Guzman used Cirilo Suacedo at goalkeeper with Javier Gandolfi, Hernan Pellerano, Israel Jimenez and Juan Carlos Nuñez as his defensive back line. Cristian Pellerano, Richard Ruiz, Paul Arriola and Arango were the midfielders. Dario Benedetto and Moreno were the starting strikers.


The senior team will return to practice Monday at 9 a.m. Ticket sales to the Week 13 match against Gallos Blancos continue on sale at the stadium box office, Plaza Galerias, MacroPlaza and Plaza Rio official team stores as well as ticketmaster.com.mx.
