GUEMEZ ANXIOUSLY AWAITS NEXT GAME

Club Tijuana midfielder back at training after playing with Mexican national team

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente midfielder Javier Guemez returned to practice with his team after playing with the Mexican national team in a pair of friendlies, making his debut with “El Tri.”

Guemez worked separately from his teammates as he went through some recovery drills after starting and playing 90 minutes in the Mexico-Panama exhibition match Sunday. He spoke with the media after Monday’s Xoloitzcuintles training session at Estadio Caliente. He talked about his experience with Miguel Herrera’s El Tri and moving forward in the LIGA MX with his club.

“I am happy with my work but the national team news has passed,” Guemez said. “I am now ready for Friday’s game. We need to win the next five games. They are five finals to play to the death and we can’t let a point slip away and not at home.”

Guemez wants to keep a good work rhythm and intensity, as he knows he could once again be considered for the national team in the future.

“Every player dreams of that,” Guemez said. “As a kid you dream of it. Today, it became truth and it’s an indescribable sensation.”

Guemez said Club Tijuana needs to have ball possession, be offensive and look to control the game against Queretaro Friday while taking advantage that he has a great group of teammates around him.
