Xoloitzcuintles prepare for Queretaro

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente trained under an intense morning sun Tuesday Oct. 14 at Estadio Caliente as it heads into its Week 13 match against Gallos de Queretaro.


Colombian striker Dayro Moreno returned to practice after being out for a couple of weeks after we underwent a dental procedure. Moreno worked separate from the team Tuesday.


The team began the practice with a few tactical drills then split into two groups to work on different exercises at different stations. The players worked on strength and conditioning and at shooting the ball at goal. The intensity of the exercise increased gradually.


Goalkeepers coach Oscar Dautt worked on mobility and coordination drills with Cirilo Saucedo, Gibran Lajud, Dilan Nicoletti and Adrian Zendejas. The goalkeepers joined the rest of the team after finishing their work.


Head Coach Daniel Guzman spoke with different players during a water break and gave some instructions about the next part of the training session. Guzman then divided the team into three groups of nine players and each group worked on agility, technique, ball striking and definition for about 30 minutes.


Midfielders and strikers worked on quick touches and definition while the defenders worked on headers and clearing balls from the area before working in the gym.


The Xoloitzcuintles will train Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Estadio Caliente. Tickets to Friday’s match against Queretaro remain on sale at the stadium box office, official stores and www.ticketmaster.com.mx.
