Xoloitzcuintles Under-20 hosts Chivas in semifinals first leg

TIJUANA –The LIGA Bancomer MX 2014 Apertura semifinals schedule is set and Club Tijuana’s Under-20 squad will host Chivas de Guadalajara in the first leg of the two-game series Thursday night at Estadio Caliente.


Coach Raul Chabrand’s squad kicksoff at 9 p.m. Pacific. The second leg is set for Sunday at 7 a.m. Pacific in Guadalajara at the Verde Valle complex.


“We are aware that this is a tough rival,” Chabrand said. “It is an important task to reach the semifinals but we are worrying about what we have to do. Chivas no doubt is a strong brand and is the top team but we feel capable and we are humble as we face this game.”


Club Tijuana finished the regular season as the No. 6 seed with 28 points after an 8-5-4 record and moved into the semis by beating Atlas FC 3-1 in aggregate in the quarterfinals. Guadalajara finished as the No. 1 seed in the regular season with 42 points 13 wins, one loss and three ties.


“We need our players to be calm,” Chabrand said. “We want them to come out and feel proud of the work they’ve done. We wear this uniform with pride and we will continue to do so with class and will to get the results we want.”


Admission is free to Thursday night’s match. Access to Estadio Caliente through gates two and three.
