CLUB TIJUANA WINS 3-2 VS. PACHUCA FC; LIGA MX Week 8; 2015 Clausura
TIJUANA - Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles pulled a late and dramatic 3-2 win over Club Pachuca in Week 8 of the Clausura 2015 season of the LIGA MX.
Two goals from Juan Arango and another from Dayro Moreno, the Xoloitzcuitnles were able to overcome a halftime deficit of 2-0. Diego de Buen and Rodolfo Pizzaro had given the visitors the two goal lead in the opening 45 minutes.
It was the tale of two completely different halves. The visiting Pachuca came out strong and looked to create danger in the first half. The Xoloitzcuintles on the other hand dominated and had the best opportunities in the second half.
Pachuca came out looking attack from the start with its speedy youngsters. De Buen was able to open the scoring early in the 11th minute after anticipating the Xoloitzcuintles defense during a corner kick at the far post.
Pachuca doubled its lead in the 36th minute. Rodolfo Pizzaro tapped the ball into the goal after Xoloitzcuintle goalkeeper Cirilo Saucedo made a save from a close range shot.
Before the visitor’s second goal, the home side came close to producing an equalizer. Dayro Moreno ripped a shot on goal from about 20 yards out and forced a big save from Pachuca goalkeeper Oscar Perez who had to backpedal and punch the ball over the crossbar.
Brazilian striker Ricardo Da Silva tried to chip the ball over Perez in the 31st minute after receiving a long pass down the middle. The ball had the height and power but it went just wide of the goal.
Club TIjuana turned up the pressure for the second half. Da Silva had a diving header in the 47th minute and Moreno sailed a shot over the crossbar after Richard Ruiz had found the endline on the right side.
The Xoloitzcuintles got on the board when Arango put in his trademark left-footed free kick into the top corner of the goal.
Minutes after the goal Pachuca center-back Aquivaldo Mosquera was shown a direct red card for a handball preventing Moreno from going in on goal.
Arango tied the game in 83rd minute after a quick give-and-go in the middle of the box with Alfredo Moreno. Arango had a first time left-footed shot that curled into the right post of the Pachuca goalkeeper.
With relegation time expired, Dayro Moreno had a first time chip shot over the charging goalkeeper after receiving a through ball in the middle of the box.
