The Xoloitzcuintles defender see similarities between the Santos Laguna attack and Pachuca’s

TIJUANA- Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente continued its preparations for its upcoming LIGA MX Week 9 match against Santos Laguna in Torreon. Central defender Jesus Chavez see parallels between the Pachuca offense which the Xoloitzcuintles faced last Friday night and the Santos attack.

Players who did not see action in last night’s Copa MX 2-0 win over Leones Negros were put through an intensive practice session on Wednesday morning in the grassy field next to the Estadio Caliente.

“It will be a complicated game. I think that is will be similar to the Pachuca match, they have very fast players down their wings” said Chavez to members of the media following the practice. “We learned a valuable lesson against Pachuca, we have worked off of that this week.

“Thank god we are able to learn from those mistakes. We worked on that all week long, it was a real good test to see where we stood.”

Chavez joined Club Tijuana during the December/January transfer window in Mexico. Since arriving he has almost immediately won a spot on the starting lineup. He has been able to combine well with team captain Javier Gandolfi; - who is a former teammate at Chiapas FC - he claims that the manner in which he was welcomed has been the key to the great chemistry so far.

“The way in which the established players took me and the rest of the new players in (was the key)” explained Chavez. “The established players, the manager, and the coaching staff all took us under their wing.”
