IN COPA MX ACTION

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente went through it final practice session before hosting Club Deportivo Guadalajara in the second leg of a COPA MX-2014 Apertura Group 3 match Wednesday at Estadio Caliente (7 p.m. Pacific).

The Xoloitzcuintles practiced complete as a team during the first portion of the practice on the grassy field next to Estadio Caliente. Coach Daniel Guzman’ squad worked with the team that will face Chivas on the field at Estadio Caliente. The coach went through the final details before the upcoming match.        

The Club Tijuana coach spoke with members of the media after the training session. He talked about the winning attitude and mentality he has tried to instill in the young squad that will face Chivas and how they can benefit from this match for future LIGA MX matches.

“We want to imitate the work that the firs team completes,” Guzman said. “This is the new blood that can come in when a player is ejected. I put a lot of emphasis on that and that we need to keep respecting the essence of the game, its character and personality.

“I like to win with good soccer, earn the win with a balanced team. That is the information that I am giving them, little by little because I don’t want to overwhelm them with too many ideas.”

Vicente Barajas, Jose Martinez, Javier Romo, Erick Miranda and Raul Rayas will be the referees for Wednesday night’s match.

Meanwhile, the Xoloitzcuintles are helping the Baja California community as it is holding a food drive for the victims of Hurricane “Odile.” Fans can bring $150 (pesos) worth of groceries to Acceso 2 at the stadium and get a ticket in return.

This will be the second meeting between Xoloitzcuintles and Chivas in the COPA MX. Both teams have faced each other seven times in official tournaments. Club Tijuana is 3-2-2 against Guadalajara.
