The Ecuadorian striker talks about upcoming match against Pumas UNAM: LIGA Bancomer MX-2014 Clausura

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente continues with its preparations heading into Week 5 of the LIGA Bancomer MX-2014 Clausura in which it will visit Pumas UNAM at Estadio Olimpico Sunday Feb. 2 in Mexico City.


The team led by Venezuelan coach Cesar Farias went through a double training session Tuesday Jan. 28 on the field next to Estadio Caliente in which it worked on fitness and game scheme.


Ecuadorian forward Fidel Martinez spoke with t he media in the news conference room after practice and talked about the positive start for the team this season.


“We are thinking about going in and gaining more points in the next game,” Martinez said. “We have been working hard. It is an important week for us and we are going to go look for the win on the road which is important.”


Martinez also talked about what to expect in the fifth week of the tournament.


“We expect a dynamic game,” Martinez said. “We are a team that aims high on every field that we play on and now we are going to play in an important game so that we stay on the right path.”


The Ecuadorian striker remembered his first experience with Club Tijuana in which he scored his first goal as a Xoloitzcuntle in the Copa MX of the 2012 Apertura against Pumas in Mexico City (Aug. 28, 2012).


“They are moments you don’t forget,” Martinez said. “Fortunately, I have been able to score important goals and one of those was the first one I made in this Club. We are going to the same stadium where we are going to keep trying to have a good tournament.”


The Xoloitzcuintles will return to training Wednesday Jan. 29 on the grassy field next to Estadio Caliente heading into Week 5 of the LIGA Bancomer MX-2014 Clausura.
