CLUB TIJUANA 3-1 ZACATEPEC (FINAL)
COPA MX; First phase Group 3 first leg
TIUANA- Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente beat visiting Zacatepec 1948 3-1 in a Group 3 match of the COPA MX 2014 Apertura Tuesday night at Estadio Caliente.
Dario Benedetto, Joe Corona and Henry Martin scored for the Xoloitzcuintles while Humberto Guzman scored for Zacatepec.
Benedetto send his goal in off a Dayro Moreno cross on a one-timer. Corona sent his in from just behind the penalty spot past Zacatepec goalkeeper Jafet Camou and into the net. Martin scored on a header from inside the penalty area to close out the scoring for the night.
The Xoloitzcuintles opened play in this tournament that features teams from the Mexican First Division and the Liga de Ascenso. The tournament winner will face the tournament winner from the 2015 version of the tournament.
Club Tijuana will return to LIGA MX action when it hosts Tigres UANL Friday Aug. 1 in a Week 3 match 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) at Estadio Caliente.
