Club Tijuana signs Mexican manager to coach the team
TIJUANA –Daniel Guzman Castañeda was named the new Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente head coach Monday night during a news conference at Estadio Caliente. The 48-year-old coach has won a title with Santos de Torreon.
He will lead the Xoloitzcuintles for the first time in the Week 8 match against Pachuca FC and for the Week 5 Copa MX match against CD Guadalajara.
Guzman is known for his soccer habits. He is known for putting together competitive teams that maintain an offensive minded brand of soccer that can be appealing to fans. Guzman led Santos to the title during the 2008 Clausura tournament after it beat Cruz Azul (3-1 aggregate).
The new Xoloitzcuintles coach was born in Guadalajara. Mexico on Dec. 31, 1965. He has an abundance of coaching experience in Mexico. He coached Club Deportivo Guadalajara, Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz, Tecos de la Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Atlas FC, Santos Laguna, Puebla FC, Tigress UANL and Atlante FC.
Guzman brings his coaching assistants, Mauricio Gonzalez and Octavio Mora while Alan Alarcon will be the new team fitness coach.
Guzman comes to Club Tijuana ready to help the team compete in the LIGA Bancomer MX-2014 Apertura and the Copa MX-2014 Apertura.
