GUADALAJARA, Mexico –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente went through it s last training session Monday Sept. 15 before facing CD Guadalajara Tuesday night in a Week 5 match in the COPA MX at Estadio Omnilife (5 p.m. Pacific).

Coach Daniel Guzman, Henry Martin, Elio Castro and Girban Lajud spoke with the media after the practice session at the Club Providecia soccer fields.

“One of the things that made me bring a young roster with some senior team players is what I saw in Pachuca during the Under-20 match,” Guzman said. “I think the playing philosophy is rooted deep with these youngsters and that’s why we want to see them play. Tomorrow we will see the future of the club against Chivas. These types of games can be evolutionary for a team.”

Club Tijuana defender Elio Castro talked about facing Guadalajara and the team’s desire to win.

“It is always nice to play against a team like Chivas,” Castro said. “We are still mathematically alive. The team comes in with a winning mentality. We are a young group but we have the quality to win tomorrow.”

Lajud spoke about the new challenge and optimism the new coach has brought to the team.

“This is a very young team that he is bringing but for us it is important for us to have confidence in our strategy,” Lajud said. “It is important to us to face Chivas even with a young team.”

Meanwhile, Martin said it is very important to get the three points in this match.

“This is an important game,” Martin said. “These three points are very important, especially on the road. We have to come out with all our will and enthusiasm to be able to win the series.”

The referees for this match will be Miguel Angel Chacon, Israel Torres, Jose Cruz, Erim Ramirez and Raymundo Sanchez.

Club Tijuana and Guadalajara will face each other in the COPA MX for the first time. They have met six times in the First Division. The Xoloitzcuintles are 3-1-2 against Chivas.
