XOLOITZCUINTLES JOIN THE CELEBRATION

Club Tijuana represented at the Mexican-Korean festival

LYNWOOD, Calif. -Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente was part of the Mexican-Korean festival at Plaza Mexico in Lynwood, CA this weekend, where the official team mascot Xolo Mayor and representatives of the club spent time with members of the Los Angeles.

The event took place from Friday April 11 through Sunday April 13 at the historical Plaza Mexico and included members of the community in an effort to expand Club Tijuana's reach into the greater Los Angeles area. Plaza Mexico was designed by a Korean architect with concepts following the basic principles of Monte Alban, an ancient city located approximately 300 miles south of Mexico City. Its image captures the many aspects of various areas in Mexico.

Xoloitzcuintles fans received members of the club with a warm welcome, with several influential members of the community publicly acknowledging the club's positive influence on the city of Tijuana. The hope behind this event is to continue to expand that reach and impact north of the USA-Mexico border and to unite the Mexican and Korean communities.

Plaza Mexico General Director Mario Cardenas said Club Tijuana has served as a gateway for American fans to enjoy more of the LIGA Bancomer MX, and sees the club as a uniting factor among fans within the greater Los Angeles area. Soccer and the Club Tijuana brand serve as a vehicle to drive that union.

"We want to create more interaction between the Korean and Mexican communities and I believe a big ingredient in that is to bring the Xolos into it because they're right across the border and everyone loves Xolos," Cardenas said.

“We intend to be the bridge and we are working to do something ahead of the World Cup. We want to work with the community to appeal more to Latinos. Xolos are the closest team from the First Division and I believe people can really associate with Xolos. There's a great Xolo ambiance and that's something we want to create here in Los Angeles."
