Xoloitzcuintles to face Real Salt Lake of MLS in friendly

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente continues to expand its reach in the United States. The Xoloitzcuintles traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah from San Diego, Calif. after a morning training session Monday morning at Estadio Caliente.


Coach Cesar Farias’ team came to the United States to face Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake in a friendly match Tuesday Aug. 12 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah (8 p.m. Mountain).


The Xoloitzcuintles flew out of Lindbergh Field and arrived in the mountainous city and checked into the team hotel as it prepares to face the 2009 MLS Champion. It is the first time these two teams meet in any competition.


Club Tijuana has faced Major League Soccer teams five times heading into Tuesday’s match, thre in exhibition matches and two more in official games.


The Xoloitzcuintles will return to LIGA Bancomer MX-2014 Apertura action Friday Aug. 15 when it hosts Jaguares de Chiapas in a Week 5 match (7:30 p.m. Pacific) at Estadio Caliente.
