“I'M AVAILABLE AND READY,” –DAYRO MORENO

Xoloitzcuintles striker feels ready for return to the field

TIJUANA –Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente striker Dayro Moreno said he is ready to return to action after missing a few weeks due to a dental procedure and could start against Chivas de Guadalajara Sunday at Estadio Omnilife.

Coach Daniel Guzman could has the Colombian striker at his disposal if Argentine forward Alfredo Moreno can’t go in the Week 14 match up set for 4 p.m. (Pacific) kickoff. Alfredo Moreno absorbed a hit during Thursday’s practice and it could keep him out of the line up. Dayro Moreno returned to practice last week but didn’t play against Queretaro.

Dayro Moreno knows the match against Chivas is an important one for Club Tijuana and knows his help could be very useful.

“I am doing good, thank God,” Dayro Moreno said. “I am available and ready for this game. Hopefully, we can get the much needed win so we can move up in the standings.”

The Colombian wants to be back on the field and find the net so he can help his team beat Chivas. The Xoloitzcuintles are 5-1-1 against Guadalajara in official matches.

“It will be a nice game for the rivalry that exists,” Dayro Moreno said. “We know the team needs the three points and that is why we work hard throughout the week. We know we need wins to get into the playoffs.”

Dayro Moreno, who has played in nine games for the Xoloitzcuintles and logged 564 minutes, knows this is an important match based on the fact that Chivas is desperate for points as it faces possible relegation. It makes Guadalajara a dangerous team.

“We have to take it calmly,” Dayro Moreno said. “We need to be very concentrated and stick our ground and counter attack. That’s what we worked on during the week and hopefully, on game day, things will go well and we can bring home the three points.”
